Membership Meetings

Membership Meeting will take place each 3rd MONDAY of the month. In the Lions Center.
Happy Hour beginning at 6:00 pm meeting starts at 6:30pm.

*  This meeting we will be serving a meal at a cost of $20.00 
*  A RSVP is needed to expect a meal.   RSVP must be in before Friday 5:pm prior to meeting.

Board of Directors Meeting Monday, April 11, 2022– 4:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Lion Vice-President Joe Gallagher. The invocation was given by Lion Joe Jackson. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lion Colin Raynor. The quorum was established with thirteen (13) members present. Members present were Lions Joe Jackson, Joe Gallagher, Colin Raynor, Tom Swanson, Margie Gillette, Darlene Faulconer, Tom Porte, Bob Leonard, Tim Grove, Alison Boyle, Ron Mancuso, Don Meek, and Marcia Van Tassell. There were no guests present.

Action Items:
1. Minutes of March 14, 2022, meeting. Lion Bob Leonard moved to approve the minutes of the March 14, 2022, board of directors meeting. Lion Don Meek seconded the motion which was unanimously approved.
2. Treasurer’s Report. The Treasurer’s Report for March was presented by Treasurer Darlene Faulconer and Assistant Treasurer Tom Porte. The Administrative account holds $70,017 while the Charities Account has $159,819. Proceeds from Bingo were $1,650, and the Thrift Store produced $51,435. The Pancake Breakfast earned $2,345. The Wednesday Market produced $1,271. The Spaghetti Dinner earned $1,449. Net revenue was $6,325. Grants paid in February totaled $8,000. Lion Joe Gallagher moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Lion Tim Groove seconded the motion which was unanimously approved.
3. The Board discussed the need to get a new computer for the Treasurer and determined that we have funds allocated in the budget for the computer. Lion Colin Raynor will investigate and purchase computer.
4. Membership Proposals. Lion Bob Leonard said there were no new members proposed.
5. Life Membership for Joe Gallagher. Lion Bob Leonard moved to recommend Lion Joe Gallagher for Life Membership with the club paying the $650.00 fee, motioned seconded by Lion Darlene Faulconer. Motion passed unanimously.
6. Property Lighting Improvement Update. – No update
7. Fundraising Proposal. Lion Tim shared that he had misspoken at the last Board meeting and is very willing to research the Walk – Run Fundraiser
8. Melvin Jones Fellowship Awards – Lion President Joe asked Board members for recommendations for MJF Awards for 2022. Lion Margie will send the list of past MJF awards by our club to Board members
9. District 35I Mini-Convention to be held Saturday April 23, 2022, in our Center. 93 Lions have signed up for lunch. Lions Margie, Darlene, and others have been working behind the scenes to make this a successful Mini-Convention\
10. Grants Requests: Lion Bob Leonard moved the acceptance of a grant request from Gateway Elementary for funds for students to attend the Odyssey of the Mind conference. Motioned seconded by Lion Tom Porte. Passed unanimously.
11. Proposed District 35 I Cabinet meeting be hosted by our club on November 12, 2022. Lion Joe G moved approval and Lion Tim seconded. Passed unanimously.

Board Updates:
• Pancake Breakfast. Lion Tim reported we had a very successful pancake breakfast this year in spite of the slow start. He shared that 37 outstanding volunteers participated.
• Florida Lions Eye Clinic – Lion Don submitted a report from the clinic indicating they continue to do an outstanding service to the community.
• Programs. Lion Don indicated he was finalizing the meeting speaker for May 16th
• Lions Thrift Store. Lion Tom P indicated they again are producing considerably more revenue than projected. Thanks to all of the awesome volunteers.
• Facilities. – No Updates
• Scholarships. It was noted that we have chosen 5 students from the Bonita Springs High School to receive scholarships this year. (One more than normal because one of the students from 2021 was unable to use the one awarded to them)
• Bingo - Amazingly bingo continues to keep on keeping on thanks to Lions Terry, Fran, Bob, Joe G. and Colin
• Tea Party Date. No date yet
• Screening Project. Lion Joe J indicated that 5 schools will be screened in April.
