BONITA SPRINGS LEO CLUB

The Leo Club is planning a trip to the Florida Lions Camp some time in the month of June.  They will go there to work with the counselors on their day-to-day operations and help with the kids.  This will be a great experience for our Leo Club to see first-hand just how the camp operates and how they can make an impact on the lives of those who are less fortunate.leoclub

Lets continue to give these kids the support they need to be successful since they are the future of Lionism.
Congratulations to Lion Catherine Lau for her leadership and mentoring of these kids.

Leadership. Experience. Opportunity. These are just a few of the rewards young people gain from participating in Leos. They also happen to be the values that create the acronym of our club name.
In total, more than 144,000 young people in 139 countries are proud to serve others in their local communities and to call themselves Leos. These young community leaders are friendly, active and dedicated to creating new and exciting opportunities by participating in their local Leo clubs. Social and professional connections are an additional benefit for Omega members (age 18 and older).

Leo clubs provide youth volunteer opportunities – and are also a place to grow and have fun.

On March 16, 2009, the Bonita Springs Lions Club chartered the Leo Club. The installation was conducted by Past District Governor Diana Pinto, Chair of Leo/Campus Clubs of MD-35I. This group of young individuals has worked many months to reach the minimum membership of twenty (20) or more people. Since their charter, they have increased their membership to 43 members. The Leo Club has participated in many fundraiser and volunteer opportunities at the Bonita Springs Lions. Lion Catherine Lau, Leo Club Advisor, has encouraged these students, who come mostly from Bonita Springs Middle School, to work at the Lions Club Thrift Store, participate in the Eye Screening in Immokalee, the 4th of July Parade, and much, much more. These fine group of students also brought stuffed animals and items of necessity to the Estero Community Center for those people who were left homeless from the flooding at the Manna Christian Center. These are the future Lions of the Bonita Springs Club. We are PROUD OF ALL OF YOU!!!

LEO UPDATE—  April 2010

Many thanks to our Leos who interpret Spanish and Creole and who assist with District eye screenings and testing at the I-TECH Center in Immokalee. They also continue to volunteer their time at both the Thrift Store and Pancake Breakfast. New officers will be voted on at the next Leo Meeting in April. The Installation Dinner will follow in June. The Leos will visit FGCU in April and also attend a baseball game with the Lions. Many thanks to Lion Catherine for your continued mentoring of these Leos.
